Outback '01 2.5 4eat VDC project

So couple years ago i bought myself my first subaru ever and after long time thinking took outback against forester. Didint had budget for newer one so went for some 2nd gen that i found

It was 2001 subaru outback 2.5 4eat eith rear LSD and early VDC package. All weather with heated seats, windows, climate control.
It has rear self leveling shocks still ok condition so i left them just put 2" spacer on top. Not sure is it made car harder and less comfy but it can take load very well. But its not soft car to drive fast on bad roads
Then i cut front bumper and put steel skid plate just for engine. Diy it myself from steel sheet from scrapyard

i put new studs on spacers that came with it and on wheel i put my old studs as they are closed and they loong too wouldnt fit on spacer anyway. so thats that
other thing im thinking that i cant tigh them very strongl yas they are aluminum spacers , i duno i tried put similar force as i did on wheels all times. Yes i will check them from tim to time.
could i use some bolt glue on spacer studs maybe ? anyone doing that i wonder ?
yeh it looks good. i saw foresters that puts same spacers and they wheels going out so much and mine are just equal to cars body not even going out . thats great.

Nice. Lot's of crunchy snow noises I bet. I love the sound of snow crunching.

Great photos mate,
You should look into uploading some videos to YouTube with all these amazing trails you tend to go down
Would be great to watch
(Including the sound of crunching snow lol)

its interesting that snow from tires flies not small powder but like big enough peaces to see them clear. and thats because today was plus temperature so it was little wet snow, very slippery

another video VDC on vs off. camera was kinda on hill too not seen in video but i was going into hill everytime i get closer to cam
and you can hear when VDC on how its cuts engine down when i try to give more revs sound like engine coughing haha.

I'm so jealous. It's currently 27deg C here and bucketing rain - about 70mm overnight.

Mind you, a couple of weeks of snow and I'd be over it.

i like snow a lot walk on it , drive on it, dont like wet snow roads , cleaned roads that are slippery and wetish with all that salt on them , but outside city roads its amazing to go just on fields

You make me want to move to the Snow.

And I hate winter, which is why I live in the tropics.

I would love to live in tropics and then sometimes go to mountains for snow. Would be best snow without salt and stuff.

It would be a long drive from Ben's location to the snow.

Sure would. Cost wise it's cheaper for us to fly to New Zealand if we want snow than drive/fly to the snow in Australia generally.

more crunching snow under tires today. trees and bushes in that forests where just amazing with that layer of snow

some things that looks simple but they not easy to do like if you want to leave car on hill on angle and leave car to take photos, how to do it with manual ?? not simple , and with autos who have Power/Hold its just easy peasy. just leave car on D turn on Hold and get out the car . thats it . it will stay in that gear and wont get stuck in gear ,nothing like that. sounds simple but its not simple if you dont have that function .

another video of crunching snow. i think this is better and snow more crunching, so who loves crunching snow its cool video

those front rims allways gets dirty fast from that brake pad dust, and i love that very subtle but still subaru rumble even on lowest revs you can hear it.

Crunchy snow with the added bonus of a soft subie burble.
I think I just eargasmed. :o

Depends on where you live! I do miss going to the snow - even more so driving in it, on it! That was the best, driving on fresh snow in 4wd in the L series, snow tyres fitted. Chains generally not needed for 4wd vehicles unless the conditions are really horrendous!

I’ll have to check out that video when I’ve got more data to “play” with. I reckon I’ve killed it for this month already :(

Keep the pics coming Scalman!

Cheers

Really love how many pics (and now vids) you always upload mate, I still to this day have never had the privilege to drive on snow... one day maybe.

Depends on where you live!

About 30 minutes north of Cairns International Airport in my case.

Must be a lot of Nu Zulanders up here, because we get some pretty cheap flights to NZ. Cheaper than flying to just about anywhere in Oz apart from Sydney, Melbourne & BrisVegas.
Sometimes it's cheaper to fly to Japan for the snow, especially when you factor in accomodation etc.
Sorry for the off topicness.
