Outback '01 2.5 4eat VDC project

So couple years ago i bought myself my first subaru ever and after long time thinking took outback against forester. Didint had budget for newer one so went for some 2nd gen that i found

It was 2001 subaru outback 2.5 4eat eith rear LSD and early VDC package. All weather with heated seats, windows, climate control.
It has rear self leveling shocks still ok condition so i left them just put 2" spacer on top. Not sure is it made car harder and less comfy but it can take load very well. But its not soft car to drive fast on bad roads
Then i cut front bumper and put steel skid plate just for engine. Diy it myself from steel sheet from scrapyard

so my car from catalog should have this O2 sensor , like denso dox-0307 . its 4 wire sensor .. all good i bought it... but then when i looked what car have ...

..wait what ? 6 pins conector and 5 wires sensor ? whats going on ?
and my cars VIN number doesnt work ... its doesnt read and its some mess. so what my car is there ? can i still use 4 wire sensor . does my ECU uses just 4 wires there or 5 wires ? im lost here

but i did something with my rear subframe rust . its not that bad when you cut all bad metal and see where good one is

Lithuania looks like a very pretty place in the winter. It seems a pity to destroy the serenity with wheel tracks.

its best feeling when you are first who making wheel tracks. i then go out and see how cool my tracks looks ;) now russians got even better winter with more snow then we do. here snow was melted just other day with rain and then next day was fresh snowing again. so its not a lot snow again. i would like it some more.. :raz:
i found out how to paint spray outside in cold weather. just heat metal with some powefull heater and then spray on that hot metal, then wait till its dries some and heat it again. it will dry and hold even in minus temp.

snow continue to melt as its rained yesterday and now its +2 C. temp. still managed to find some snow in forest areas tried so diagonal testing again on very wet snow.
its very hard to drive on wet snow. easy to get stuck even on not deep snow if you loose momentum. good thing using combination of lots wheel spinning and VDC traction control let me drove from hard parts

here car was almost hanging on but smart work on VDC gave torque to front wheels more and i drove out

this how VDC worked out there. i just keeping gas pedal in middle at most . and VDC works even better when you turn wheels to sides then its changing too looking ohh there is more grip lets try that and such..

I wish we had some local snow to play in!

You have some in mountains in other part australia do you?

fun in deep snow. first seconds was going with VDC but that was no fun , later went much better without it

It did with snow up to doors and not winter tires with full city psi in them.if you stop you cant move forward but if you back up you good again. Think that skid plate in front helped a lot to skid through snow not stuck on it so fast

real offroad test with firester club in fields where trees and bushes where cut down. it was bad idea as one car got flat tire because of that, as you allways driving onto some cut small tree end that is hiden under snow and you dont know whats there. it was very warm so snow super wet and even ground in warm allready so car just sinks down.

car was on belly most times in mud but with momentum and 1st gear pedal to metal was capable with other foresters and lifted old impreza.

couple moments from that forester club track day tha twe did there. it was 17 cars. 2 outbacks , 2 imprezas and rest foresters, and one skoda AWD which went home soon, it was just too low , that AWD system worked ok but it was just not enough clearance.
i got stuck one time, 2 times i pulled cars . was fun. shame not much caught on video. car was moving so slow because i was almost on belly or on exhaust , i got there jus tenough clearance, anything less and i would be stuck there too, was so deep still snow and mud under snow.

It's good to see the VDC performing well. It's a much more cost-efficient solution than putting in a clutch-type LSD in the car, which is why newer cars, especially Subarus, use them in the current lineups. It's cheaper to replace the brakes than overhaul the LSD. Cheers.

yh not as good as land rovers traction control or toyotas but not bad . at least for 2.5 engine i see problem with VDC that it lacks power when it cuts it . so with more more , like 3.0R or 3.6R it should go much better. just those newer outbacks dont go offroading so much they more used in city. on those hard tracks i was going VDC off most times in hard places where i needed momentum, and then on normal not so hard driving i was puting VDC back on.
