Outback '01 2.5 4eat VDC project

So couple years ago i bought myself my first subaru ever and after long time thinking took outback against forester. Didint had budget for newer one so went for some 2nd gen that i found

It was 2001 subaru outback 2.5 4eat eith rear LSD and early VDC package. All weather with heated seats, windows, climate control.
It has rear self leveling shocks still ok condition so i left them just put 2" spacer on top. Not sure is it made car harder and less comfy but it can take load very well. But its not soft car to drive fast on bad roads
Then i cut front bumper and put steel skid plate just for engine. Diy it myself from steel sheet from scrapyard

I think silver like the Baja would look better

maybe but what kind of silver ? baja has same color from bumpers and i tried to do some kind of grey there and i didint liked it. Black is black, black is in front is on side , black and red is allways good i think. maybe if respray all bumpers and all side plastics and fenders then maybe it would look good. and i like baja look red with silver

Two tone works for me, red/black, red/silver.
Not that I can talk, I've got a tri-colour SVX! ;)
I plan on doing the bottom trim of the SCX in bedliner, but keep the colour if I can. Not sure if you can get that colour (greyish Bronze, bronzey Grey Gumetal grey!??) in a bedliner though, in which case it will be matt black.

so you think that top left grey/silver color was ok there ? its another new color . i looked at it from all angles and i thought that black should work better .

and original colors on cars allways works 2 or 3 colors. like baja bottom color is all plastic is not like its painted on metal.
an i like a lot that older gen outback silver lines

now when i look at it that silver color is not even matching bumper color.

then i like those not complete round fenders as they put on crosstreks

I think the sills and arches need to be the same colour as your patch-up.
OR your patch-up needs to be the same as the main red colour. which I imagine would be hard to match.

i like them black just this anti gravel spray is weird one or it needs to be painted , its kinda keeps all marks like water run trough it via rain and when it dried next day looks like crap , maybe because its mat color too. will see. still need to seal somehow archs from inside wheel as that why all this rust came out. because wheel was spraying all that water and salt and mud and all stuff there. then some more stuff to do if i want this car be ready and good for MOT in november. if this car still ok to drive though , i thought about it a lot but for now i will try to fix some stuff will see how it will go and then will decide what to do, in any case its good experience for me at doing those kinda things on car even if i will need to change car later, wont regret nothing i did.

I have the same thing with the bedliner that I put on the foz. dust is attracted to it like crazy.

Trying something on front bumper . Its just plasti dip so can remove if i want
And it should be mat color not shiny when dryes.

LPG stopped turn on . was driving back home after last trip on petrol because of that . seems it was just valve that was too dirty i guess and wasnt turning on . so i just cleaning it up today and LPG works again.

Good to hear it was a reasonably simple fix. It's always nice to have a win. :)

reverse light upgrade. last time i used 2 led mini lights , now put 3rd one and did some tests. and its amazing. its just so much more comfortable feeling when you able to see where your backing up clearly

For offroading at night extra reverse lights are definitely a great idea!

Well for parking between cars in the dark places its needed too as now ill be going to work in dark and get back in dark this so much better, and drains less W then those 2 bulbs which i removed because strangely then its not enough voltage goes to leds.

I like strong reverse lights. I call the GG wagon's reverse lights headlights because they are big and somewhat too bright!

Never saw those they maybe bright but do they light up ground or just spread all over?

Anyone thoughts where it leaks from?
Why header bolts allways have oil drops there?
Head are more inside so why those header bolts in oil?

They are bright but they act like reverse high beams. When the car is reversing, it would look like it is moving forward slowly.

Have you already changed your rear main seal? That may be the culprit. Another source can be the oil separator plate:

Some people just use RTV on the old plate as the one that is worn there is the rubber gasket.

This is a tasking job, especially if you don't have a lift and a transmission jack. Cheers.

EDIT: My reply was in the quoted message.
