Hi,

I am looking to do a bit of beach camping over the summer and I was wondering if anybody knew any decent forester friendly beaches with camping in NSW.

Cheers,

Mark

have a look at the Sydney High range 4WD club on Facebook, they do a fair few beach/sand trips.
If you are doing a fair bit I may reccomend an anti rust system and to make sure you wash it down(and under expecially) with fresh water after trips.

Haven't done it, only ever camped on the lake side, but you can 4wd in Myall Lakes NP (Mungo Brush). I don't think you're supposed to camp on the beach, but there are a few spots just behind the dunes.

Myall lakes is good, some nice mud pits after it rains. If you have a boat u can recommend violet hill as a camp site.

Manning Point / Old bar (Taree) but will get very busy

Further to Kevin's post (above), if you go to Manning Point Caravan Park and drop into the office, you can purchase a beach driving permit and drive 5kms along the beach to Farquhar Park Camping Ground. It's beach access only so only 4wds (and good AWDs).

It gets packed though - only go off-peak.

UPDATE
Info below pasted from Taree Council website...

PLEASE NOTE - All beach accesses to Manning Entrance State Park, including to Farquhar Park Camp Ground ( via Manning Point) are temporarily closed for safety reasons related to severe beach erosion. Access to Farquhar Park Camp Ground is by boat only. Information on boat access locations can be obtained through Greater Taree City Council.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll definitely have to check some of those places out. I have been camping up at Myall lakes, but normally putting in a boat at Violet Hill and camping at Shelley's Beach. I will definitely have to check out Mungo.
