Replacing interior carpet with vinyl

Gidday NL

Thats a fair bit for fitting though. Great saving to do it yourself

If you have seen how hard it is to fit carpet to a square room with a flat floor, you will appreciate that fitting car carpets are a tad tricky ... It is an art form.

Hope you are surviving the heat ... Hit 45C here about 45 mins ago. Currently 44C ...

Our power has been out (same 89 properties) 6 times in the last 72 hours, for a total of over 24 hours. I spent 38 mins on my mobile to Alinta last night. They will be getting a bill for that, as well as all the other costs we have incurred. They contract to provide electricity; not to provide electricity when they feel like it!

Funny how there's always time/resources to come back and fix it 5 extra times (the last at 0047H this morning ... ), but not sufficient time/resources to do it properly the first time .... :yell: :furious: :mob:.
It is "just" one phase that's gone out each time. The other two phases have kept going.
Pretty crappy "gold plating", if anyone asks me - of course, they don't ....

This is a quote to do the carpet in my 2003 SG with factory fitting, maybe useful to someone in the future.

Hi Tony,
installation is $450
Front and rear loop pile carpet will cost $165.00
Front and rear plush pile carpet will cost $180.00
You will need 2 rolls of underlay.
Standard underlay will cost $25.00 per roll; Soundproof underlay will cost

Please give us a ring on the free call number if you would like to go ahead
with the carpet and installation

Kind Regards,

would be interesting to see the quote if you took the car to them stripped (just the drivers seat) and left them with the sills and console. Should be a lot less.

Must admit its a prick of a job.

Arent they moulded so fit straight in? The underlay would be tricky though...

"straight in" does not seem to equate with my experience. Trimming, cutting holes etc all takes time and effort.

And those all-important ingredients - knowledge and experience.

I was also going to say this, before our power went pear shaped last week ...
Must have been all that "gold plating" we heard so much about ... :(.
