Last w-end I joined the Subi-Rec Club for a trip through Hill End & what a great trip it was :raz: The trip was full on & had plenty of everything.
There was dirt & dust, hill climbs & decents, with fantastic views to match. :)

Together with that we had some bog holes to go through, aswell as many, many creek/river crossings to negotiate. :quitar:

Not sure what the final count was, but lets just say it was well over 50x crossings. Yes that right, 50+ water crossings ( I lost count after that)

Adding to all of this, there was heaps of animals & wildlife to contend with along the way.
There were snakes slithering along the tracks & goannas sunning themselves too.

Aswell as the sheep, horses & cattle & not forgetting the odd Kangaroo & Wallaby jumping out in front of us at times just for good measure. :newmulti:

We did have one recovery where a bog hole was miss timed by trying to ride the high side next to it

I also got stuck in another bog hole at one stage  (hence my Forry being slightly dirty) but managed to get out unassisted after a little backward-forward motion.

All in all, it was a great trip, with some magic scenery to match.

In saying that, I'll let the pics tell you about the rest of the trip :discomonkey:

Good photos & report

it really was a fun trip & interesting recovery of the Paj

I am just working on my Abacus now to do a final tally of the crossings

will post the number & details in due course

pity about the rain on Saturday night meant that we missed the 4WD tracks on Sunday - next time

Mr. Turbo

It looks you had a great time trip to Hill End.
Your pics seems you were not through the Bridle track, please show us your trip map in google if you don't mind. I will put it into my next trip.

Thanks

 Looks like a grand time!!!

Great pics, very beautiful scenery.

Love the dog. Who's is it???

Bridle track is closed due to a rock slide, - since August, no plans let to fix - too hard in these days of OHS compliance & Risk Assessments

Lovrsuba - the track was via Turon National Park - you should come with us next time.

The dog is mental & his name is Gary & is owned by Wayne who is not a member on this forum

We have had a lot of rain this week & the tracks are now closed.
The river crossings had from 0 to 600mm (up to 2 feet), now they have over 4m or 13 feet in them

Yes Gary's a great dog :raz: He loves the trips as much as we do, if not more. :)

There's never a dull moment when Gary's around. If he's not hanging out the window trying to grab the trees & shrubs as we drive along  :poke:  he'll be running up to say hello to everybody

great pic,s , wow 73 water crossings thats extreme , lots of fun.

visited this area about 20 years ago in a couple of 4 runners loved it have to visit again one day

hey Damo, do you know if anyone got track data on this trip? a mate is heading out there and asked me if i knew it. i know its in the book but this route looks better:biggrin:

Not sure eden, but I don't think so.
Most of the time when foresterman runs a trip we just go by whats in the book (4wd trips close to Sydney) wing it & play it by ear.

Wow fantstic pics!!!

Must admit I am a little jelous, it is so dry over here in Perth, I dont think there are even 73 rivers around, let alone do 73 river crossings in one trip!!!

Hey,

Just saw on NPWS web that the Turon River track is closed due to flood damage.

This is from the flood a few days after this trip as not much rain since.

This track is in the photos of Kevin's Triton, my white Forester before & in the river, the bogged Pajero & is where Damian got all the mud from a rather large & sticky mud hole.

I also heard that the huge gate at the end of that track was washed away - that gate was built to plans for Defence Bases, so WOW the river must have been raging to do that.

Cheers, David

WOW, that gate was built like a fortress :bananagunner:
Man that water must have been raging like there's no tomorrow to do that
