Long time Subaru lover new YouTube. We just traded in our 2013 impreza for a 2018 crosstrek. I have a YouTube channel OTR Adventures and want to build the crosstrek as a project vehicle. Any suggestions, tips, or questions are welcome. Hope to do one mod each month for a year.

Awesome!
Suggestions:
Talk to Nachaluva about a lift kit, dunno how high you can go though.
Talk to Rally about Diffs and what potential there is, he's just put an e-locker in the rear diff of an MYO4 Forester
Don't talk to Rally about tyres/tires.

Other things you could do:
Snorkel! Haven't seen one on a crosstrek!
Blower of some sort - Supercharger/Turbo your choice
Manual Dual Range box - doubt anyone's tried that in a crostrek, anytings possible if you throw enough money at it (just ask Rally!)

I'm looking forward to watching this!

Great ideas

The snorkel has my mind buzzing. Going to try to figure that one out. Turbo is on the list. I will talk to those guys and pick their brains.

new crosstreks are cool small cars. people mostly doing lift and tires on them , some skid plates and you good to go. Why would you do more to new car ? for hardcore projects you buy older car not new.

Why not talk to me about tyres? We had an interesting day in the state forest today. While undergoing development, our locking rear diff developed an issue and it became open. So, with my ever reliable Bridgestone RE002 road tyres (I should charge them for all he promotional work I do for them!) I tackled some pretty muddy tracks today. My mate Dave (co developer in the diff locker project) in a 100 Series Landcruiser came along, along with some others.

Unfortunately, he was only able to get A/T tyres for his car, and despite his diff lockers working where mine was not he was not able to follow me out of the most difficult mud hole. And i even stuffed up my line into the mud hole! Surely that is worth talking about. It was great that about half a dozen lifted, big tyred 4WD's (Patrols and the like) were witness to it all in addition to our own group.

Oh, I presume the cruiser sank because of the weight whereas yours floated, because of the lack of weight, too. Seen that happen plenty of times.
Once, see a big old Versatile tractor get bogged on a clay pan shortly after being flooded. Massive thing, 4wd, centre pivot, dual tyres on each corner, 930Cummins motor. Got a grader to try and shift it. That got bogged too. Fella drove straight past both of them in a little old Daihatsu 4wd, mud flying everywhere but he made it. Too two days of drying out before anyone else got through.
That tractor was awesome, towed a 52 for wideline air seeder sowing sunflower and rapeseed after the Darling flooded one year. It was like driving on the moon especially at night on the floodplains.

that is enough for this model . not much more you could do with it.
and the best tires in pic too. you cant beat BFG TA KO2

i would cut bumper too i think (because i like cut bumpers )

lift kit itself it almost same as for all other subarus. its just strut spacers and then for more lift you could put heavy springs. but thats make offroad worse for such light car. but it makes it look good sure.

for look you can put some bumper guard. but for me it even lowers angle and its not strong enough to protect you from anything then bushes maybe or grass. but people pay money for just looks i get it.

but almost 1k $ for thoses pipes they must be drunk or smt.

He got stuck not at the bottom, but on the climb out. So he wasn’t sucked into the mud or anything. Another metre and he would have been out altogether. I should find the photo
