Hi!
It is time to do oil change for my Subie
Dealership is far away so I decided to buy filter and oil and do it by myself
Oil is simple Full Synthetic 0W20 whatever brand (they all same no matter what label screaming about why our oil "super mega maxi bla bla bla")
Filter ...So I bought Mobil M1-104....according the book in store , but on the Mobile 1 site they saying M1-108 / M1-110 should be used , and most funny part M1-104 is good only for Forester 2011. On the forums I rad that actually m1-104 can cause extra wear to engine because oil not running immediately to engine but with 2-3 sec delay , so I should to use m1-108 ....
I am confuse now...Please Help what the right filter fom my NON TURBO 2012 Forester

Thank you!

Wish I had an answer for you, but sounds like something worth looking into. Maybe a call or e-mail to a Subaru tech???

I used m1-110...Sent email Subaru tech , they saying , subaru original filter is the best choice to stick with , all other see manufacturer recommendation...such a "cover donkey" answer )))

On the newer foresters the filter was moved above the engine at the front. The correct filters have a rubber section that holds oil in the filter after shutdown. When starting that is providing oil until the pump gets going again. You can also use filters from Mazda RX8. They are the same as Subaru’s
