First, I'll have to disappoint all that were expecting some Subaru action

I've borrowed my friend's stock Xterra to go on a run with two other friends. Long story short, I've got cool friends!!
Second, I'm still around, just not as active since we had a baby in March.. But, I jump on any opportunity to go have some fun!!

Two of my buddies and I wanted to do Bill Moore Lake and figured we'd try the loop starting with Red Elephant Hill.

Me and my buddy JJ in the Jeep got through two hairy sections and decided to turn around in order to preserve the borrowed Xterra which was at stock ride height. Ryan in the 4runner was below us and decided to turn around without guidance before we got back. He ended up crossed up on the trail so we've hooked up JJ's winch to help him out. It was much steeper here than it looks.

JJ's Jeep was amazing!! It's an '89 CJ with 2010 18in wheels and bumper riding at stock height with posis. JJ had no issues running the trails with us (minus some altitude related carb issues). This was his first high altitude run since he has moved to CO from Cali. It was pretty cool to watch him run

Then we set off to leave. JJ couldn't resist the hole (which was dry). Got through without any problems.

looks like a great trip. Would love to get out there and see all that. Maybe one day...

Looks like it was great fun. The trails looked like they were challenging. Do you think a Foz could handle them? I would love to try them.

Sorry, but no. Too much loose rock and quite a few sections where clearance would be an issue. You could try Loch Lomond lake though which is close by :iconwink:

Sorry, pilfered your photo album, love this pic. Finally got a chance to watch all the videos and whatnot, looks like it was a great trip. Glad you've got friends nice enough to let you beat up their X-Terra.

Ha! That waterfall is in Idaho Springs right next to the interstate 70! I'm sure you could see it on the Google street view too  It is a pretty neat waterfall though.
Here's a little info on the wheel: https://www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=39381
And a picture I found of it frozen (found in Panoramio via Google maps):

Cool little bit of history.:) I've probably even seen it having driven through CO on 70 a few times. Very interesting view on keeping healthy.
