Hi All
Some friends and I went sand driving at Wilbinga (between Yanchep and Lancelin), just north of Perth WA. The cars were my Subaru Forester, a Mitsubishi Triton and Landcruser. The entrance is opposite the Gravity Discovery Centre (which does not have an apple orchard but does have millions of dollars worth of electrical equipment).
It follows narrow sand tracks with some rocky patches. We made our way towards the coast and encountered several cars coming the opposite way. The narrow track made passing difficult but not impossible.
We eventually found a nice play ground (see my Wilbinga album) with a steep slope and a nice gentle one. We all went down ok but getting back up the steep slope was impossible even for the 'cruiser and `triton.
The tracks alternated from smooth compact sand to steep rutted soft sand.
The only problem I had was with my compressor. The switch burnt out or something. Pumped up 5 tyres and then nothing. oh well. Everyone we came across was really nice and helpful.
Anyway it was a great day
