Gday all
I need to remove the tripot cv joint from the gearbox.
Does that just pry out of the gearbox/diff? The workshop manual i have shows a circlip on the inner end of the tripot.
Thanks

Depends on the axle model. SF and very early SG are female with a pin, later SG and onwards are male with a inner circlip (the one you probably have).

It should come out of the gearbox quite easily but if not, dont pull on the axle but use a crowbar.

So the circlip doesn't actually hold the joint into the gearbox/diff?

Got them off with a bit of leverage
How good is this forum when you can get help from the other side of the world!

I'm guessing you have an SG Forester? When you lever it out, use a prybar up against the bolt on the gearbox, not the gearbox casing as that can crack
