Hey guys,

I need to be in Brisbane for a Saturday in December, and wanted to make a longer weekend out of it. Thinking drive halfway up on the Friday and camp that night, arriving in Brissy on Saturday. Then coming back I'd camp Sunday night and arrive home Monday.

Do you have any recommendations for places to camp? My tent attaches to the car awning so I'll be set up next to the car.

Thanks.

Maybe do the Pacific H'way one way and the New England (very scenic)the other.

I've not camped as such on either route but for the coast perhaps somewhere around Scotts Head / Smoky Cape and inland I'd maybe go for Beardy Creek near Glen Innes; this site may help you decide: https://www.findacamp.com.au/

Some nice state forests along the way.

There's a massive quite free camping spot in the forest at Coopernook which is nice. Otherwise make sure you do a trip up to Dorrigo and visit the Rainforest Center and Waterfalls - checkout coffscoast.com.au for more info on that. Most of the Highway upgrade between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour has now been opened too!
