That would make sense. Even simply taking the wheel off & putting it back on again could fix it if the wheel wasn't sitting properly. I know the wheels are hubcentric & should always align properly every time, but that's only if they've been done up with the proper nut cross tightening sequence. Ie, 1 3 5 2 4

I think the crunching/clicking noise was brake related but caused by the wheel as it sounded like rolling a a crinkled can on the road, if the noise was coming directly from the wheel it would have sounded different... just have to follow the trail back to the source
