Has my suspension gone lol...

Lol I wish supply fit and alignment rear only...

For the extra $50 I'd go with kyb / kings at Sydney Suspension (AKA Wholesale Suspension) - they've done all the work on my Foz custom suspension.

I'd go KYB/Kings too, it's a tried & tested combination. For just rear seems a bit expensive though. My breakdown would be (estimates)
pair King springs $150
pair KYB struts $350
labour (1-1.5hrs) $150?
alignment $100-120

Total ~$750

If they do a good job (Kevin's recommendation is good) then it might be worth paying the extra

Yeah it's a fair bit of dosh for it. Could save some on the swheel alignment but not think it would be a saving in the longer run.

^ our Subies are very, very badly affected by the slightest abnormality in alignment.

When I bought Roo2, its wheels were all within OEM specs, but all pointing in different directions. It handled like a canal barge!

With a full alignment (and chassis squareness check) and new tyres, it handles nearly as well as my '93 Impreza did. That's after the Pedders rear spring units were fitted, and another alignment done.

I will put in one of Nacha's 1" lift kits soon, and will have the alignment checked after that's done.

Sorry all been pretty busy to do a post.
From what I can see they are not self levelling struts.
So would I be right in thinking in this case could it be just that the springs have sagged and it may just need replacement springs rather then a full overhaul with the struts.
Is there any way I could check this out first without removing the struts?
Cheers all for the help so far.
:)

Do you know how old or distance travelled on the struts? The reason I ask is that if they're old then you might as well have them replaced at the same time as the springs rather than have to pay again for the labour involved in pulling everything apart.

Hello Kevin,
I am on the 167,000 mark.
So they are getting on a bit.
Second owner. No major repairs on vehicle other then full timing belt kit replaced on its major service and no visible underbody damage So believe been treated reasonably :)

^ I tend to agree with that approach, Kevin.

The OEM struts are an all in one solution. I like the Pedders EziFit approach because they are off the shelf parts. All well and good to pursue the bespoke path - I've done it successfully a number of times (with cars and other things). However, it usually ends up costing more, and is rarely as good an overall result as buying the ready made solution.

Suspension specialists like Pedders tend to know more about this stuff than any of us, and have far greater experience so that they tend to get the overall balance right. They charge for that expertise! Fair enough too.

It's a pretty safe approach to replace springs & struts together. You can check the struts with the bounce test...push down hard on each corner in turn, if it bounces a few times before coming to rest the strut needs replacing. A healthy strut will return to rest without any bouncing

Well after some long thinking I ended up getting the pedders exifits with a 1" rear spacer in.

Noticeable difference in handling.
So should have done it a long time ago lol

Was the final straw when I ended up dragging on ther tow bar on a short section incline.
