Default New Subaru owner from Transylvania

Hello everyone

I bought my Forester in december 2016, as a second hand car from Germany. It is a 2.0X NA 5 speed MT dual range . I hope I shall find some helpful information on the forum.
I had a Renault Duster - a very cheap 4x4, made in Romania + other countries - which got a 1 1/4" lift by IronMan shocks and springs at a fresh start of 2k miles. This winter season arrived (december 2016) and unfortunately the car could not manage to climb the 6" snow covered slope (about 10-11%) in our yard up to our house with 4x4 locked. Thus came the decision of selling the car and buying something more serious 4x4 or AWD vehicle. Luckily one of my colleagues is a Subaru fan and owner, so from our previous discussions (but not only) I had "some" knowledge about Subarus. Thus came the other decision of buying a used Subaru Forester, which I finally did.

I am happy and satisfied with the Forester's AWD abilities, and I am planning to take it out in the Transylvanian wilderness, however I don't want to smash the underbody to the rocks or ground. So I would like to get a little lift - 2" front and 2.5" rear is what I'm planning - plus some skidplates.

BTW Transylvania, being a latin geographical name, it means something like "the land over the forest" . So I hope my Forester will get into character over here cause we still got some nice forests, regardless of the negative footprint of our civilization (turning the ancient forest covered landscapes into agricultural and industrial areas ).

Welcome here OffWhite !

I think you're going the right direction with skid plate and lift. Maybe all terrain tires too.
