Lockers - General Discussion

Open or helical differentials are better for on road snow driving. Airing down to 1,8 bar is recommended too. Lockers or Clsd's are not recommended for on road snow driving because both wheels of the same axle will rotate at the same speed and this makes the car very unstable as soon as you want to make a turn (understeer/oversteer).

For onroad/offroad in deep snow, better deflate the tires down to 1,2bar and try not to use the locker. If you get stuck, then deflate the tires even lower and if it still doesn't work, lock the differential(s) but it probably wont be of much help...

Locked differentials are useless and even dangerous when driving onroad in the snow because you loose all the lateral grip of the tires as soon as they start to slip which tends to happen very quickly !
